1
New Work in Football – Changing Work Culture
"We've always done it this way, why should we change anything?" – a phrase that is not only often heard in companies but is also frequently used in football, says the speaker.
Almuth Schult questioned this at a young age, as processes need to be adapted from time to time to changing circumstances.
Especially during her active professional years in the USA, it became clear that there are already many new approaches to shaping team sports, but this also requires willingness and integration into the culture.
Germany sees itself as innovative, but this is often not the case at its core, especially when times get tough, as we tend to revert to conservative methods.
2
Zero Tolerance for Mistakes – Dealing with Special Pressure!
The goalkeeper position, much like a leadership role in a company, is highly unique—every wrong decision can instantly lead to a goal conceded or, in a business context, to losses. No other player on the team faces the same pressure for perfection, having to perform at 100% precisely when it matters most.
In this position, the ability to actively influence the game is very limited, and all eyes are on you when things get critical. How do you manage to perform in these moments, and how do you prepare for a game? Almuth Schult will share these methods with you in this exciting lecture.
3
Anyone can make it: With willpower, mindset, and resilience, from the province to professional football.
Almuth Schult grew up in a village with 120 inhabitants and still made it to the top. "Can't be done" is not an option – there is a solution to every challenge, but it often requires a lot of self-initiative.
One experience that Almuth Schult repeatedly encounters in professional sports is that it’s not always the most talented person who reaches the goal, but rather the one who works the hardest for success. What matters is not how many people believe in you, but who they are and the genuine, reliable support you receive.
4
Team success as the top goal – Managing dissonances
A team is not assembled according to personal preferences, but is put together by the responsible leadership. Each season, around 25 different personalities come together in the locker room, and they must not only support each other on the field but also adapt to each individual’s habits in daily life.
One can be individually talented, but alone, success will not be achieved. Team ability plays a crucial role, as well as the ability to address things at the right moment, subordinate one's own interests, and be empathetic. Above all, effective communication within a team is key.
5
Impressions from the daily life of a professional female footballer
The question is often raised whether professional sports can even be considered a career – after all, it’s just a hobby. Almuth Schult provides an insight into the effort behind the scenes, offering a fresh perspective on the processes in elite sports and drawing a comparison to other professions.
This lecture makes it clear what challenges lie behind the facade of success, challenges that remain hidden to most people.
6
Equal opportunities? – Women have to work harder in comparison
In male-dominated sports, women often have to deliver better performances than their male counterparts, just to stand out in the media coverage, as both the media and sponsors tend to focus more on men's sports.
In addition, the infrastructure provided for women in sports is often worse than that for men, even within the same club. This is also accompanied by lower pay in most sports, which means that greater personal responsibility is a key part of the recipe for success.
7
Equality in professional sports – The double role of being a professional and a mother
Almuth Schult was the first mother in about 20 years to return to top-level football after her pregnancy.
How does the professional daily life change with children, and what challenges do you face? What needs to change in the infrastructure to ensure that there are as many mothers as fathers in sports?
The rigid frameworks still in place today are outdated and were established at a time when there were no parental leave regulations, and the decision-makers, often men, had never faced this challenge themselves. Almuth Schult is convinced that this needs to change quickly and shares new knowledge and approaches on the balance between sports and family.
